WatchScout – the beginnings
Its been a long and winding road with numerous ups and downs, adventure and turmoil to get here but we’re here.
WatchScout was setup by James (me) and Frank. Me being an avid watch fan that dabbled in a bit of watch buying/selling and Frank being a jeweller that was also an avid watch fan.
I walked into Franks shop one day with an Omega mk40 3520.50 (the original black and white one) and asked Frank if he could get watches repaired.
Frank looked at me trying to get the lay of the land.
‘What do you do with these watches?’
‘I sell them’
‘Omega is my brand!‘ – he shouted
(‘Who is this guy in my shop with this sweet watch’) – he was clearly thinking
From there we hit it off, Frank helping with the overhaul and servicing and me doing the sales and marketing. WatchScout was just an idea for quite a long time. I was busy with JJB Watches working on an online following, eBay store and administrating a Facebook community and Frank is forever busy being the busiest Jeweller in the world so its taken a little longer than expected.
We discovered we both have a love for the same watches. I walked into the shop one day with my favourite Omega (the rather excellent 3520.53 mk40 schumacher edition) and Franks eyes lit up:

‘Thats my watch‘
He said and it was quickly turned into his watch! There’s a consistent struggle whenever we get anything really cool through the door that it might not make it out the door again. Being an avid watch fan and a watch seller is like a drug dealer getting high on his own supply. Luckily some make it out of our clutches and we’re not consistently high.
JJB Watches was turned into WatchScout, the website was setup and away we go!
Anyone that has bought from me or dealt with Frank knows that we are personable people with the customers interest absolutely at the forefront. And I want it to stay that way with WatchScout even though its clearly going to get a bit bigger than an eBay shop and Instagram site!
Cheers all – James and Frank!
