Holiday Watches

Its busy during the summer months selling watches and I put this down to people wanting a great watch to go on holiday with. There’s probably a degree of being ‘out and about’ more in the summer months and wanting something new to look nice. Its probably vaguely similar to car sales – no one wants a new shiny car to drive around England in the Grey winter months do they?

What do people take on holiday? For me I want something that I can dive into the sea or a pool with and have no worries about it filling up with water and being ruined. So the old speedy is definitely out.

I also want something cool that is just fun to look at and a bit different.

But do you take more than one watch? One for diving in the sea with and one for looking nice in the evening sat in a marina eating your dinner? Can one watch do all that?

Its a great place to lose a watch on holiday and do you worry about getting mugged and only take an old beater?

I think it depends what the vibe of the holiday is. Sometimes I go massively over the top and sometimes I take one that can do it all..

Recently in Greece it seemed the whole plane had a Planet Ocean on and I also saw many Seamasters during my trip. I don’t have the wrists for either so my watch of choice is a pelagos 39 which I think is a bloody great watch, a bullet proof seiko diver of some description, a submariner is a bloody great do it all watch but fairly flashy – too flashy? Nahh
